Welcome to our “Inside DME Forensics” blog series. Over the next few weeks, each DME Forensics team member will introduce him/herself by going over a short list of interview type questions (some professional & some personal), in an effort to best describe who is it that you talk to when you call and/or email us!
This week, I will start by introducing myself…
Name: Rodrigo Sagastegui
Company Role: Marketing Specialist
Favorite quote: “The purpose of our lives is to be happy” (Dalai Lama)
What do you do at DME Forensics? Design marketing collateral, coordinate events, marketing collaboration with partners and distributors, social media, web design, blog/newsletters, market research and business development activities.
Please describe your current “work from home” setup: My daily activities require no more than reliable internet access, my laptop, tablet and mobile phone. Because of that, I try to alternate between my desk, living room, deck and sometimes even my bed!
What are your credentials/experience for working in your position? I hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing and worked 20 years for a Scandinavian Group responsible for all marketing activities within region Americas. I have visited more than 50 countries and done business in most of them.
What do you like about working at DME Forensics? Compared to my previous job, DME Forensics can be considered a “small business” (17 team members vs 52,000). This makes internal communication much easier/straight forward. It is an extremely friendly atmosphere and there is a clear “team” mentality, which goes perfectly in line with my 20 years of exposure to the Swedish culture.
What is your background? I was born and raised in Guadalajara (Mexico), where I went to college. After graduating, I was offered a job at a local branch for my now former Swedish employer. A few months into the job, I was offered a promotion which required me to relocate to Gainesville (Florida) to oversee all their Latin American business development activities. So, my girlfriend and I decided to get married and move to Florida together. Ten years later, another company within our group reached out and offered me a position based in the Pocono Mountains (East Stroudsburg, PA), responsible for Marketing in the Americas. After relocating with my company once again, both of our kids were born in PA. Unfortunately, in 2015 the Swedish Group decided to divest our division hence 500+ of us lost our jobs. My family and I decided to take this opportunity to move to Colorado. After a few months of marketing freelance consulting, I was invited to join the DME Forensics Team (Golden, CO) in charge of their Marketing department.
What are the values that drive you? Honesty and hard work.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? I have been a cyclist most of my life, and about 10 years ago I made the transition and became a triathlete. You can usually find me swimming, cycling or running in preparation for the 2-3 triathlons I race each year. I also try to visit the French Alps or the Italian Dolomites every couple of years to cycle over their beautiful (and very challenging) mountain passes. My family shares some of my outdoors passion with me, and we often cycle, run, swim, hike, camp or snowboard together.
